My first encounters with Joe and Emily were over the counter at our University Cafe, where I worked as a barista. They were a freshmen and sophomore, I was a senior; I thought they were adorable together and loved watching a romance blossom, but they probably didn't have any idea who I was. Fast forward a few years, and these two are engaged, planning a summer wedding, and I got to be the lucky photographer to capture this sweet engagement season!
Joe and Emily are both from Kansas, and grew up only a few hours apart from each other. They had a lot of mutual friends, and even knew each other's siblings, but never met until they attended the same university. They met between classes one day, but their friendship really developed while they were working on a ministry project together. Emily was impressed with his heart for the Lord, she loved their time together, and she hoped he wouldn't forget about her once their project was over. But Joe just kept showing up everywhere she was, and before long they were best friends!
Joe is studying to be a Pastor and plays as a running back on the football team at his university, while Emily is studying Humanities Applied Science, and together they plan to serve in full time ministry in the future. Emily has an infectious smile and bubbly personality, and Joe is so tender and caring towards her. I got to see firsthand the sweetest way that Joe has of making Emily laugh with just a quick little witty comment.
I was honored that they asked me to document this precious chapter in their lives; I know from experience that the engagement season flies by so fast. Joe and Emily, enjoy this time, but trust me, marriage is awesome! I loved seeing you two together and so in love, and I wish you all the best for your future marriage!
